Winter Plant Out in Fyans Creek a Great Success!

Last Saturday, we kicked off the 2026 planting season with over 40 volunteers by restoring native habitat on private land.

We hosted our first plant out of the season last weekend, and it was a great success. On Saturday 27 June, Project Platypus hosted 45 volunteers at Fyans Creek on the property of Catherine Pye and Clive Carlyle, the fourth event in an ongoing revegetation partnership that stretches back to 2019.

The day brought together community members to plant a range of native shrub species, all raised by members of Jallukar Landcare. The planting continues the steady, cumulative work of restoring habitat across the local landscape, one season at a time.

After a morning in the field, volunteers gathered to recharge on homemade soup, bread, and baked goods before heading back out for an afternoon shift.

Events like this one speak to the heart of what makes Landcare so enduring: long-term commitment, local knowledge, and a community willing to show up, year after year, to do the work.

Project Platypus extends its sincere thanks to Catherine and Clive for opening their property, and to every volunteer who joined us to be part of this effort.
