Thanks to a fantastic collaboration between Project Platypus, Pomonal Primary School, and Jallukar LCG members, with the support of a VLG grant we’ve just wrapped up an amazing planting project!
Our focus was on understory plants to complement the tree-belt we planted earlier. This project aims to create a continuous corridor across Terry and Annette May's farm, stretching from Mt. William Creek to the Jallukar Nature Conservation Reserve. We’re even incorporating the remnant red gum woodland in Pa's Paddock as part of this corridor. The new understory plants will provide fantastic cover for migratory birds and blossoms for nectar feeders.
In just three hours, our hardworking children planted and guarded 500 of the 600 plants! And guess what? They got to enjoy some toasted marshmallows as a reward for their efforts before heading back to school just as the rain started to fall. 🌧️🍢
What an incredible day of community spirit and environmental stewardship!
